More oversight and penalties for COVID violations
OSHA, if you are not familiar with the name is a Federal regulatory agency which oversees worker safety. OSHA falls within the U.S. Department of Labor and determines what protections employers must provide for their employees. Under the previous administration there was not even an emergency infectious disease standard issued for healthcare workers.
Data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), there have been 287,010 cases of Covid-19 in healthcare workers and 953 death and is higher than most countries. No doubt this number is much higher. Why, this is in part due to the widespread of COVID and minimal inventory of personal protection equipment (PPE) in the United States. COVID deaths have now reached over 400,000 and will continue to rise even with the vaccine.
Once the Biden administration revamps OSHA and some of their new polices you can expect more protections will be required for workers. Many companies have already implemented safety measures to protect employees and customers alike. The Biden administration will probably start with contact and data tracing protocols. Additionally, you might see stiffer penalties for noncompliance. President Joe Biden’s first moves in office could be issuing mandatory workplace safety rules that employers must follow to protect workers from exposure to the coronavirus. OSHA has the authority to issue a serious violation for every area of the inspected facilities where social distancing was not being implemented. OSHA also has the authority to classify the violations as ‘willful’ or intentional disregard of violations which in some instances can make the fine ten-fold.
Workplace safety experts have said a new standard would make employer’s responsibilities clearer and make it easier for OSHA to levy fines when workers are not adequately protected. Besides all the standard protections such as wearing mask another method is through air purification. Our new model is one tool in the PPE ‘toolbox’ to ensure a safer indoor environment. The unobtrusive two by two troffer is designed to continually purifier and recirculate an area or room and without taking any space.
Using two powerful ultraviolent (UV) lamps, the UV light is then combined with a catalyst which creates a powerful purification process. Our system is designed for commercial applications such as healthcare facilities, medical offices, dentist, schools, nursing homes and just about any indoor application where there is a drop ceiling.
Whether you choose our system or another air purifier it would be prudent to budget for installing an indoor air purifier. We believe our system offers the most value as it’s Made in the USA (high quality), priced less than competitors and feature-rich in terms of management control.
